Award Categories
The award has been instituted in four categories:
Award for the Best Information Commissioner
This award is for the most outstanding Information Commissioner who has enabled access to correct and complete information to maximum appellants and enforced RTI Act in its true letter and spirit. The winner will receive a citation and a plaque.
Award for the Best Public Information Officer
The jury will decide upon two Public Information Officers who have provided complete and correct information in maximum number of RTI applications within the prescribed time limit and/or has made special efforts in providing information to the applicants. Each winner will receive a citation, a plaque and prize money of Rs. 2 Lakhs.
Award for the Best RTI Citizen
Two Awards will be given in this category for citizens who created maximum public impact by using RTI Act. Each winner will receive a citation, a plaque and prize money of Rs. 2 Lakhs.
Award for the Best RTI Journalist
One award will be given in this category to a journalist who has filed RTI applications himself/herself and used the information obtained for reporting issues of public importance. The winner will receive a citation, a plaque and prize money of Rs. 2 Lakhs.
